During COVID the frustration of lockdown and future unknowns reminded me of my need for patience. So I decided to make a painting about it to help me process the situation and give me something productive to do.

Words for Life
This series of paintings began as an attempt to cope with the uncertainty of COVID lockdown. With constant travel delays and extensions of restrictions, I realized my need for and lack of patience. As a way to process my struggle to be patient, I decided to do a painting about it. I love the beauty of Arabic script and patterns so used those for my painting. The process was cathartic, as it gave me something enjoyable and productive to work on, a physical way to express my frustration, and time to reflect. From there I got the idea to make a series of paintings, inspired loosely by the fruit of the Spirit, to help me ponder all those attributes that I need God’s help to practice in my life.
